Supervisor, IT Release & Control

The primary responsibility of the Supervisor of IT Release & Control will be expected to contribute both strategically and tactically to the implementation of new and/or extended software applications, focusing on the hardware, software and communication interface points associated with the implementations. Cross functional management of enterprise configuration management and releases, enterprise application integration, deployment and workflow management.  Supervise the IT Release & Control team’s daily performance and activities.  Coordinates cross functionally with business owners, departments and market participants on system releases and integration issues. 

 

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the design, development, implementation, documentation, and ongoing execution of Release & Control tasks in support of the company’s IT activities.
  • Tasks include those dealing directly with software as well as hardware and the overall management of multiple environments (e.g. development, training, staging, testing, and production). 
  • Responsible for implementing formal Configuration management and Quality Control policies and procedures. Assists with the design and building of support infrastructure (call tracking systems, support sites, knowledge databases, etc.).
  • Provide support for emergency fixes deployed into production systems.  Support spans the problem resolution process through Testing and Deployment Quality Control activities.  Responsible for the reliability and maintainability of all IT Software Systems through proactive monitoring and support.  Support spans multiple applications and operating systems including legacy and future systems.
  • Administer NYISO Software Configuration Management systems and processes.  Manage Change Control activities for NYISO IT development projects / maintenance activities. 
  • Responsible for the deployment of new and enhanced applications into the NYISO production systems.  Provide necessary notification of all software changes to internal and external customers.  Provide monthly updates on status of production releases.
  • Responsible for Change and Configuration Management of all Software and Hardware Infrastructure Changes.  Provide assistance in Release Management of major Software Production Product Releases.
  • Work closely with the Testing and Development teams to ensure software, and potentially hardware, can be migrated in a controlled, predictable, and repeatable fashion between various environments.
  • Coordinate the cross-functional reviews of current CM practices and re-engineer them if/as needed to support company's strategic direction.

 

Experience/Skills:

·         7 years related experience in software development,  release management & control, or quality assurance

·         Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and / or providing technical and supervisory oversight to a team or work group

·         Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills

 

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical field.
